Explore My Still Life Collection

This curated collection features two of my original still life paintings, each inviting you to pause and appreciate the beauty in life's quiet moments.

"Every detail holds a story - these paintings remind me to pause, reflect, and appreciate the beauty in life's quiet moments."

My still life paintings continue a tradition that dates back to the 16th century, while bringing a fresh, contemporary perspective to this classic genre. Each piece meticulously captures the interplay of light, texture, and form, transforming ordinary objects into extraordinary works of art that invite contemplation and connection.

About Me

I am a an award-winning artist, classically trained at the renowned Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney and the prestigious New York Academy of Art in Manhattan. I have been honoured with the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award and the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture (now known as The Lester Prize), two of Australia’s most prestigious portrait prizes. My work has been selected for major exhibitions including the Archibald and Doug Moran National Portrait Prizes, and is held in private collections worldwide.

My Technical Approach

Using time-honoured techniques refined through years of dedicated practice, I create still life paintings of exceptional detail and luminosity. I pay close attention to reflections, shadows, and the subtle play of light-elevating common objects to subjects of profound beauty.

The Tradition of Still Life Painting

Still life painting, with origins in Ancient Greco-Roman art and Dutch 'stilleven' (still life) traditions, has evolved from symbolic representations of mortality to celebrations of beauty in everyday objects. My work honours this rich heritage while introducing my own unique artistic vision.
